Free Seminar for Small Business Owners on Healthcare.gov November 24, 2014. Small Business Health Option Programs (SHOP) information available.


Marianne Miller, an ACA Certified Application Counselor, will be available for small business owners in Vance, Warren, and Franklin counties. Ms. Miller, an employee of Northern Piedmont Community Care (a division of Duke University Health Systems), will answer questions about the new Small Business Health Options Program (SHOP) that is currently open for enrollment from Nov. 15th until Dec. 15th in 2014 for the coverage year 2015 (Jan. 1st, 2015 until Dec. 31st, 2015).

Northern Piedmont Community Care will host a short seminar on November 24th from 1pm until 3pm for small business owners who would like more information regarding SHOP. The office is located in the basement suites of the Medical Arts Building opposite of the entrance to Maria Parham Medical Center. Please use the back parking lot entrance (suite 210, the door with the blue awning). Due to limited seating please call 252-431-6177 for reservations to Ms. Miller by 5:00pm on Friday, Nov. 21st. Ms. Miller will also meet one on one with the small business owner at their business address by appointment only, by calling 252-431-6177.

The Division of Community Health recently received a $400,000 grant from the Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust to improve access to health insurance and primary care among uninsured residents in five rural North Carolina counties.

The program aims to increase understanding, enrollment and use of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and other services among low-income residents of Granville, Franklin, Person, Vance and Warren counties.
