Thanksgiving “Click It or Ticket” Campaign

The N.C. Department of Transportation and the Governor’s Highway Safety Program kicked off the Thanksgiving “Click It or Ticket” later Monday at a news conference at the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts in Raleigh.

North Carolina hit a milestone this June by achieving a seat belt usage rate of more than 90 percent, which is the highest statewide rate to date. While Wake County’s seat belt usage rate improved to 88.3 percent, it remains below the statewide seat belt usage rate. Local law enforcement agencies throughout the Capital county continue to work together to remind drivers and passengers it’s the law to buckle up and if you don’t it could cost you $161 or your life. Wake County and counties across North Carolina are striving towards a goal of 100% seat belt usage.

Governor’s Highway Safety Director Don Nail will be joined by Raleigh Police Chief Cassandra Deck-Brown and Major Bobby West of the State Highway Patrol. LaNica Allison, Deputy Secretary of the N.C. Department of Transportation, will also be on hand to give opening remarks.

The Thanksgiving “Click It or Ticket” campaign began Monday and continues through Nov. 30.
