Students in the Radiography program at Vance-Granville Community College recently completed a community service project to provide a happier holiday for local children in need.

Some 30 members of the junior (first-year) Radiography class each “adopted” one child and provided him or her with a Christmas present through “All God’s Children,” a charitable organization serving families in Vance, Granville, Franklin and Warren counties. The president of All God’s Children is Faith Harris, who is also an instructor in the Computer Education department at VGCC.

Radiography Class of 2016 students Courtney Mitchell of Franklinton and Hilary Durham of Durham recently delivered the gifts to Harris at the college’s Main Campus. Mitchell is also vice president of the VGCC Radiography Club. Harris expressed her appreciation to the students. “We are able to meet the needs of many more children this year, because of the generous support from these students,” Harris said.

Based at VGCC’s South Campus between Creedmoor and Butner, the two-year Radiography degree program prepares graduates to be radiographers, skilled health care professionals who use radiation to produce images of the human body.
