The Vance-Granville Community College Small Business Center has scheduled a pair of free seminars for Thursday, Feb. 12, at the college’s Main Campus in Vance County. Both are presented by Mike Collins, a motivational speaker and president of The Perfect Workday Company in Raleigh, who has led numerous seminars and workshops at VGCC in the past.

The first seminar, “Getting It All Done: Time Management for Small Business Owners,” will be held from 9 a.m. until noon in room 7107 (Building 7), while “The Best Small Businesses to Start Right Now” will follow from 6 until 9 p.m. in the same location.

In “Getting It All Done,” the focus will be on creating the type of workday that participants want — typically one in which they meet priorities, work effectively with others, dig out from under the paperwork and email avalanche, and lead a more balanced life. Collins will offer more than 100 strategies, tactics, and tips to help participants plan, evaluate priorities, manage crisis and conflict, find an “extra hour” a day and go home on time.

Regarding the subject of the second seminar, Collins says that “this might be the best time in decades to start a business.” The key questions are what type of business is ideal for each entrepreneur, and how to get started. Collins said he will focus on four areas: “how to create a business idea that fits you; businesses you can start for under $100; ‘hot’ businesses that will grow in the coming years; and five easy-to-use steps to starting a business.”

For more information and to reserve a seat in one or both of these free seminars, contact Small Business Center director Tanya Weary at smallbusiness@vgcc.edu or (252) 738-3240. Registration can be completed online at www.ncsbc.net/center.aspx?center=75530.
