VGCC offers Two Small Business Seminars April 14

The Vance-Granville Community College Small Business Center has scheduled a pair of free seminars for Tuesday, April 14, at the college’s Main Campus in Vance County. “Are Your Ready to Run Your Business From Your Home?” will be held from 1 until 4 p.m. that day, while “Cash: The Lifeline of Your Business” will follow from 6 until 9 p.m. The location for both is Room 7107 (Building 7).

Leading both seminars will be Harry Ponder of Carolina Business Services in Weaverville, N.C. Ponder is the former director of the Small Business Center at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College and has taught many courses for the VGCC Small Business Center.

In the first seminar, Ponder will seek to help entrepreneurs who either already operate a home-based business or are considering starting one. He will discuss the challenges, advantages and disadvantages of running a home-based business. Business structures, legal issues, the home atmosphere, record-keeping, taxes, equipment and marketing are among the topics to be covered.

The second seminar is designed to teach small business owners and managers why the day-to-day cash flow of their business is important, and where cash will come from to enable them to operate effectively.

For more information and to reserve a seat in one or both of these free seminars, contact Small Business Center director Tanya Weary at smallbusiness@vgcc.edu or (252) 738-3240.
