Vance-Granville Community Band presents free Spring Concert

The Vance-Granville Community Band is preparing to perform its annual spring concert on Thursday, April 16, at 7 p.m. in the Civic Center on VGCC’s Main Campus in Vance County. Admission is free and the public is invited.

The title of this year’s concert is “Music From Around the World,” according to Carl Cantaluppi of Butner, clarinet player and band librarian.

The program is scheduled to include “Light Cavalry Overture” by von Suppe, Gustav Holst’s “Second Suite for Military Band,” “Barnum and Bailey’s Favorite March” by Karl King, Clare Grundman’s “American Folk Rhapsody,” “Selections From Oliver!” by Lionel Bart, as well as a variety of other interesting pieces.

VGCC music instructor Ivory Brock is the band’s primary conductor.

First formed in 2008, the Vance-Granville Community Band includes people of all ages, from all walks of life, and from throughout the region.
