Vance-Granville Community College is holding an art show consisting of works by students in the Portrait Painting continuing education class taught by Leslie Johnson of Oxford. The portraits are displayed in the lobby on the first floor of Building 7 on the college’s Main Campus in Vance County, now through Wednesday, May 6. Pictured above with some of the artwork are, from left, artists Carolyn Wilson, Dolores Wilkinson, Denise Gill, Kelly Nesbitt and Nina Cheatham.
Another of Johnson’s Portrait Painting classes will begin in September. The instructor paints portraits professionally and has taught portrait painting at VGCC for more than a decade. Johnson’s goal is for each student to complete at least one oil portrait by the time he or she completes the course.
