Personnel Recommendation–Superintendent?
I hope that I am wrong, but my guess is that they will continue the downward spiral of recent years by promoting a person from the current staff with no experience as a Superintendent and very little managerial experience, We need someone with a doctorate in education from a “real” university…not a degree earned from a diploma mill. The candidate should have a minimum of 3 years of demonstrated leadership as a Superintendent.
This is one time that I hope I am wrong.
RR–If the past is any indication of their present mind set they haven’t learned anything from the last colossal mistake.
Our good teachers and students deserve the best and this is, in my opinion, very serious for the future of Henderson and Vance County.
agree with you guys, and…hope they hire from outside of he area, as I hope for the county mgr. position too. We need those who can bring experience from OUTSIDE of Vance County to help. Thought the City did well when hiring Ray Griffin.
Forget the interim also. Time to get to it.
If this interim hire is made permanent, Vance County is doomed to 20 more years of mediocrity.
As I read the paper this morning it dawned on me why Vance Co. Schools continues to put these “people” into these positions as opposed to bringing in a “new set of eyes & ideas”. I think the BofE continues to do things backwards as far as hiring practices is b/c they are afraid that if someone comes into that position with 1/2 a brain then the BofE will have to actually do something and be accountable as opposed to doing the same ole’…same ole!! I think that falls into the category of INSANITY b/c as you well know they continue to do the same thing(over & over) and continue to get the same results……is that not insane? Low Test Scores….High Teacher Turnover….No Long Term Goals(@least any accomplished)……Schools that need repairs…..High Dropout #’s……I guess the citizens think the BofE does a good job b/c they continue to elect a notorious Tax Deadbeat to occupy one of the seats. If your children don’t deserve more then continue to elect people who evidently don’t care too much about them either!!!
