Vance County Schools – Nursing Aide Graduates

Nurse Aid GraduatesThere are 15 students who are now graduates of the Vance Medical Academy at Southern Vance High School as certified nursing aides (CNA) following a pinning ceremony held in their honor on June 9.

The pinning ceremony was held in the school’s Drama Room and was attended by approximately 75 family members and friends of the students. Melodie Kernahan, a registered nurse and the lead instructor in the Vance Medical Academy, along with faculty member Valerie Brown, presented each of the graduates with a certificate and their pin during the ceremony.

The graduates also joined in reciting the CNA Pledge, which reads “I solemnly pledge to uphold the standards of care with which I have been trained and to apply high moral and ethical value to my daily tasks. I further pledge that I will safeguard the confidentiality, respect and dignity of my patients and work only in the best interest of those committed to my care.”
