City of Henderson Increases Brush Pickup and Recycling to 5 days a week

Based upon the information gathered during the customer satisfaction surveys concerning our Sanitation Services and a pilot program we have been undertaking for several weeks, the City will be going to a five (5) day work week instead of four (4) days for both Brush Pick-up and the Recycling. We feel that this new schedule we will provide better service for our citizens.  This change will take effect January 4, 2016.

The Monday and Tuesday schedule will remain the same. The Thursday and Friday schedule will be spread over the period of Wednesday through Friday. Please bear with us as we adjust the schedules for pick-ups. The attached colored map indicates your day for pick-up. The Wednesday pick-up route will be between Chestnut Street to Ross Mill Road on the West side of I-85 and between Andrews Ave to/and including Dabney Drive. The Thursday route will be from Chestnut Street including Chestnut to the Railroad tracks from Andrews Avenue to Corbitt Street.  In addition, the Thursday route will extend out Raleigh Road to City Limits and area encompassed by Dabney Drive, Cypress Drive to and beyond Oxford Road to City Limits. The Friday route will be the Country Club Area to Dabney Drive.  Click here to see new route map : Sanitation and Recycling Map.pdf

Residents can help by taking the following steps to insure that their brush and recycle is picked up.

  1. Do not place mixed trash and debris in the same piles as we do not nor will we take the time to separate your trash. Place brush in a pile by itself. All piles of brush over 200 lbs. will incur a charge for pick-up according to City Ordinances.
  2. Please be mindful of where your rollout cart or other bins are placed so that they can be seen for pick-up. In addition, please place your bins and cart out the day before your pick-up is scheduled to take place.
  3. In the event of a missed pick-up, please call 252-431-6115, or 252-430-6030 during business hours.
  4. Please be aware that according to City ordinance, there are additional charges for construction materials, excessive bulky waste and excessive brush piles.

If you have any additional questions or concerns you may call the Public Services Director at 252-431-6030 or 252-431-6115.
