Vance County Democrats will host a voter education forum on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 10:00 AM in the Vance County Commissioners Meeting Room 122 Young Street Henderson, NC.

The public is invited to attend this informational forum addressing changes to voter identification requirements.

Special guest speaker Dr. Lee Cooley will make the presentation.  

Reverend Dr. Lee Cooley, a Raleigh native, works for the North Carolina State Board of Elections where she serves as the Voter Outreach Specialist to Minorities for the State of North Carolina. Dr. Cooley also serves as Associate Minister at St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church in Raleigh under the leadership of the Reverend Dr. Ronald E. Avery.

Following her primary and secondary education in the Wake County Public School system, Dr. Cooley received a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communications from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; a Masters of Education in Agency Counseling & Sociology from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina; and a Masters of Divinity in Biblical Counseling from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC. Dr. Cooley earned a Doctorate of Ministry in Apologetics & Theology from the Eastern Carolina Christian College & Seminary in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina in July 2014.

Dr. Cooley has over twenty-five years of experience in the field of social work, counseling, and advocacy with county and state government, as well as, with the private sector. She also has extensive community and campaign volunteer experience. Dr. Cooley believes that knowledge is indeed power, and voting is one of the greatest methods through which power is demonstrated. As the Voter Outreach Specialist to Minorities in North Carolina, Dr. Cooley’s efforts are to ensure the successful participation of minorities in the voting process. Successful participation means “casting a ballot.”
