Louisburg College Recognizes 139 Scholar-Athletes


On Wednesday, January 27, the College held its annual Scholar-Athletes Awards Program, honoring 139 student-athletes.The program was held in the Roger G. Taylor Athletic Center prior to the men’s basketball game against Wake Tech.

The Hurricanes Scholar-Athletes Awards Program was established at Louisburg College in 2005 to encourage student-athletes at Louisburg to be scholar-athletes. The awards are given to all varsity student-athletes who earn a semester grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Student-athletes received awards based upon the following criteria for the spring 2015 and fall 2015 semesters: Gold (GPA of 4.0); Silver (GPA of 3.5-3.99); and Bronze (GPA of 3.0-3.49).

President Mark La Branche and Athletic Director Mike Holloman gave remarks during the program and Assistant Professor of Religion Josh Parrot served as the guest speaker.
