Facebook and YouTube marketing to be discussed at free VGCC small business seminars

The Vance-Granville Community College Small Business Center is registering participants for a pair of free seminars that will help entrepreneurs use social media.

Facebook Step-By-Step:  How It Can Help Your Small Business” will be held at the Thornton Library in downtown Oxford on Thursday, Feb. 25, from 6 until 8 p.m.

Lights, Camera, Connect!  A YouTube Marketing Primer” is scheduled for Thursday, March 10, from 6 until 8 p.m., at VGCC’s Franklin County Campus near Louisburg.

Leading both seminars will be Paul Kaufman, an experienced technology trainer and entrepreneur. He holds a B.S. in Communication from the University of Miami (Florida) and a Master’s in Adult Education from North Carolina State University.

“It seems the entire world is on Facebook,” Kaufman said, regarding the first seminar. “And with such a large base of people, you need to reach them so they visit your website and help your business. But it takes a careful roadmap to get you there.” Kaufman will give participants specific tactics they can use to engage with people on Facebook. Topics covered include: choosing the best Facebook URL; using keywords strategically; helping the user above all; and Facebook ads.

The second seminar discusses why YouTube is one of the most powerful social media sites. Kaufman will help participants learn how to make videos that strengthen their brands, bring clients to their doorsteps and foster goodwill among their customers. Topics covered include: equipment; topics for videos; strategic subscribing; and YouTube Analytics.
