If the concert was “FREE”–who paid for the use of the building and personnel?
Your tax $$$$ would be by guess. Here’s food for thought…..Spoke with a gentleman today who was wanting to coach his son’s baseball team at the Henderson Vance Rec. Dept. and was denied due to the fact he had a Felony on his record. Not a felony that had anything to do with a child or children…but a Felony.
My question to the Vance Co. Board of Commissioners is why couldn’t this guy have the opportunity to coach his child and have an opportunity to bond with other kids just b/c he had a Felony on his record. Do you not remember hiring the current Head of the Rec. Dept. that replaced Alan Gill? Hmmmmm…..the Head of the Henderson Vance Rec. Dept hired a CONVICTED FELON to run the Rec. Dept. Seems like a double standard since the guy wanting to Coach was a white male and the CONVICTED FELON that the County Commmissioners hired is an African American. Was the Black Caucus in the Commissioner’s ears during the hiring process? Somebody got to them or the new Rec. Dept. Leader is kin to somebody on the County Commissioner’s Board!!!! Guaranteed!!
All these are facts….not opinions. Don’t believe it, check for yourself!!!!

D,I believe the gentleman was hired by the city manager.
Mingo,
Does it matter who hired him with the above FACTS I stated in Post #2? Do you not think having a “relative/friend” on the county commissioner to place a phone call to the City Manager for him didn’t give him an extra advantage in getting the job? Grab a dictionary today and look up “nepotism” & then maybe you’ll understand my point. It certainly wasn’t his criminal record that got him the job……especially when another male can’t even Coach a HV Rec. Dept. team b/c he has a Felony on his Record(and it’s not a Felony involving children). Pretty much the same type Felony your HV Rec. Dept. head guy has on his criminal record.
WAKE UP HENDERSON…..or stay asleep. At least if you’re asleep you won’t see the dilapidated houses all around your area!!! Your Honor, I rest my case!!

My question related to the Performing Arts Center–isn’t it supposed to make money? If this event was a totally free space–we are losing money.
McGregor Hall Performing Arts Center is a non profit and has no fiscal connection to the City of Henderson or Vance County Governments. It receives no tax payer funds for operations. This performance was a result of a grant to benefit and educate the children of our community.
