Students can “spring forward” before spring 2018 at Vance-Granville Community College, thanks to a four-week curriculum course format being offered for the second consecutive year.
The four-week mini-term starts on Monday, Dec. 18, 2017, and ends on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018, in a so-called “intersession,” as it takes place mostly between the regular fall and spring semesters.
The courses on this schedule include Success & Study Skills (ACA 115), College Transfer Success (ACA 122), Principles of Management (BUS 137), Introduction to Computers (CIS 110), Criminology (CJC 112), Principles of Microeconomics (ECO 251), Personal Health/Wellness (HEA 110), Critical Thinking (HUM 115), Music Appreciation (MUS 110), American Government (POL 120), General Psychology (PSY 150) and Introduction to Sociology (SOC 210). All 12 courses are being offered completely online.
Registration for these classes is currently underway, and will close on Dec. 14, which is also the deadline to pay tuition and fees.
“With ‘Spring Forward,’ students can accelerate their education in a fast-paced period of study,” said Jeffrey Allen, VGCC’s dean of enrollment and outreach. “We had great success last year with the first ‘Spring Forward’ mini-term, so we are excited to be able to offer more than twice the number of classes as before.” He added, “These courses can give many students the opportunity to quickly make progress toward a degree in a way that is convenient and affordable.”
Not only current VGCC students, but also new students, including students at four-year universities, are welcome to enroll. All the courses on the schedule except for ACA 115 and CJC 112 transfer to most North Carolina colleges and universities. Students are encouraged to check with their four-year school of choice regarding transferability before registering for particular courses.
In addition, high school students who meet certain eligibility requirements may take these courses through the Career & College Promise (CCP) program, tuition-free.
