Vance County To Consider Merging Public Middle and High Schools
The Vance County Board of Education at its January 8 meeting directed Superintendent Anthony Jackson and school system staff members to seek community input on a potential facilities consolidation plan that would impact current Vance County middle and high schools. Kedecia Stewart, a teacher at Pinkston Street Elementary School, has been named the North Central Region Teacher of the Year. The announcement was officially made today at a school-wide assembly at Pinkston Street, where Stewart teaches math to fourth and fifth graders. Royster Retires From VGCC Endowment Board
T.S. “Sam” Royster, Jr., of Oxford recently retired from the Vance-Granville Community College Endowment Fund Board of Directors. Royster has served on the board since 1998. Among his numerous contributions to the Endowment Fund, he and his law partners established the Royster, Cross & Hensley, LLP, Academic Achievement Scholarship in 2007.
