Employee’s Right to Medical Privacy
There is a bill currently in evaluation at the North Carolina Legislature that if enacted, would allow your employer rights to certain medical records if you become disabled or filing for workers compensation. The employer would not need the employee’s permission to access the records. Time Out Tuesday
Tuesday, April 12th area ‘volunteers’ will be put in Time Out in a child care center for one hour. To gain freedom once again, they must raise $250 by calling local citizens for pledges. Child care centers are in both Henderson and Louisburg with the Henderson location being Sugar N Spice on Horner Street. This activity is a fundraiser for the Franklin Granville Vance Smart Start organization.
HPD receives fourth CALEA award
Chief of Police Keith L. Sidwell is pleased to announce that on March 26th 2011, the Henderson Police Department received its fourth award from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. This award recognizes twelve years of continuous compliance with all mandated standards set forth by the Commission.

Project RIDE needs opinions on drinking & driving
Project R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) is sponsoring a brief survey to get your opinions in an effort to reduce drunk driving. Project R.I.D.E. is composed of Franklin and Vance County citizens who have been working on ways to lower the number of incidents of driving while impaired. Each year 465 children ages fourteen and under die due to unintentional fire or burn related injuries with children age three and younger at the greatest risk.
Sweetheart’s Breakfast Feb. 12
There will be a Sweetheart’s Breakfast at the Liberty Christian Church on Saturday, February 12, 2011 from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The cost is $6 per person. The menu includes eggs, grits, bacon, sausage, homemade biscuits, coffee, and juice. The Liberty Christian Church is located on NC 39 South in the Epsom Community of Vance County.
