Silent Protest March in Support of the Community and Children
September 30, 2017 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
A Silent Protest March will happen Saturday at the Vance County Courthouse, to unite the community and demonstrate to children that the community cares about them.
“Because what we know for a fact is we cannot stop this, these evil forces with just one entity … so, the purpose is to bring all citizens of the city of Henderson who are concerned about [these] senseless acts of violence and shooting and killings and drug trafficking and specifically speaking to the opium and heroin use in this county that’s killing our youth,” Said organizer Debbie K. Scott. The silent march is symbolic of the children’s voices not being heard.
The march will start at 1 p.m. and go until 3 p.m.
The march starts on Church Street, goes down Chestnut Street, across Andrews Avenue and back across Rock Spring Street, down Garnett Street and ends at the courthouse.
Participants are asked to be silent during the march and are encouraged to bring signs for the march and rally. The rally begins at the courthouse and lasts until 5 p.m.
The event is free and open to the public.
