The Vance County Board of Education will meet in a special session Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Administrative Services Center on Graham Avenue to discuss personnel issues and act on recommendations in that area for next school year.
The meeting, announced last week, comes in the middle of the most important week of testing all year for most Vance County schools: the end-of-grade exams for third- through eighth-graders. Those tests start today and run through Thursday.
Children who don’t pass the state-mandated exams can’t move on to the next grade without special permission from a principal, and they generally are destined for summer school and up to two retests.
High school students face their end-of-course tests next week on Tuesday and Wednesday.
