Artists in all disciplines are eligible to apply for grants to support their professional and artistic development through a partnership of the North Carolina Arts Council and the Vance County Arts Council, Warren County Arts Council, Halifax County Arts Council, and Franklin County Arts Council. A new Tuesday morning painting class will begin at Vance-Granville Community College’s Main Campus on April 25, with a new instructor: artist Stephen Filarsky of Franklinton. “Watercolor & Drawing” is scheduled for Tuesdays from 9:15 a.m. until 12:15 p.m., April 25 through July 18, in room 5223 (Building 5). Vance-Granville Community College is introducing a new way for students to complete the first two years of a four-year degree on an accelerated timetable. Starting with the fall semester that begins in August 2017, students will have the option to earn the 60-credit-hour Associate in Arts (College Transfer) degree in just three semesters: fall, spring and summer. The Henderson Vance Downtown Development Commission in partnership with the Vance County Arts Council held its annual downtown business holiday decorating contest again this year. Vance County Schools Students’ Posters Earn Recognition
Vance County Schools recognized the artistic talents of students at Aycock Elementary School and Zeb Vance Elementary School on December 1. Wednesday the N.C. Museum of Art in Raleigh held a groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion of its park, which is expected to be completed by next summer.
