The Vance County Board of Commissioners will convene as the Water District Board on Monday, January 3, 2010 at the end of the regular meeting of the board. The purpose of the meeting is to enter into a closed session to discuss a property matter.

Search warrant uncovers heroin, firearm
On December 29, 2010, members of the Henderson Police Department’s Narcotics Unit and SWAT team executed a search warrant at 563 Spring Street in Henderson, North Carolina after receiving numerous drug complaints about the residence.
No county HR meeting for January
According to County Clerk Kelly Grissom, there will be no Human Resources Committee meeting for the month of January. An email from Grissom stated that there are no position vacancies to be addressed nor any other items that need to be addressed by that committee.
Man arrested 43 times for larceny
HPD encourages businesses to join program aimed at curbing larcenies by habitual offenders On December 28, 2010 Calvin Wilson, 51, of 835 Water Street in Henderson, North Carolina was arrested and charged with misdemeanor larceny, second degree trespass, and resisting a public officer.

NC Rural Center awards $515k in grants
Raleigh -— The North Carolina Rural Economic Development Center has awarded two grants to create jobs and improve the economy in Vance and Warren counties, Rep. Michael H. Wray announced.

HPD warrant-serving operation nets multiple arrests
On Monday, December 20, and Tuesday, December 21, Officer D, Pittman of the criminal investigation division and Officers K. Gregory and D. Ragland of the patrol division participated in an operation geared toward serving numerous unserved warrants.
City loose leaf collection to Jan. 15, 2011
The City of Henderson’s Public Works Department staff is working diligently to remove raked leaves from the curbing as they are left for pick up. Except for inclement weather, the leaf collection crews are working six days per week to assure to collect all loose leaves by the January 15, 2011 deadline.
