On November 29th, 2011, the City of Henderson hosted a lighting of the official Christmas Tree in Downtown Henderson. Attending were Mayor Pete O’Geary, Rev. Henderson is giving city employees their first cost of living raise (COLA) since July of 2008.
Reporter – Leigh Hester – The cost of the increase will be $42,500 at current staffing levels to close out the end of the year. Next year, the cost will be approximately $85,000. The raises this year are fully funded by $22,500 brought in by the city by fees paid by internet gaming cafes, and by an unexpected windfall from first quarter sales taxes of $20,000. Hair Salon Breaking and Entering Arrest
On November 25, 2011 around 3:17 AM officers with the Henderson Police Department responded to the Royal Palace Hair and Nail Salon, 632 Corbitt Road, Henderson in reference to a breaking and entering in progress. Upon arrival officers found a broken window. Officers searched the business and located Kenneth Jerome Turner, 46, of 401 Charles Street, Henderson inside. North Carolina’s gas tax is linked to the wholesale price of gas. It adjusts automatically every six months. It’s scheduled to increase by nearly 4 cents per gallon on January 1st. DWI Charge for Porsche Wreck on Parker Lane
On Thursday, November 25 at 3:14 a.m. officers of the Henderson Police Department responded to a reported vehicle crash in the 900 block of Parker Lane.
