Dean Thomas named Vance County Schools New Transportation Leader, New Principal for E.M. Rollins Sought
Dean Thomas, who has served as the principal of E.M. Rollins Elementary School for the last several years, has been named Supervisor of Pupil Transportation. Thomas will replace Clay Owen, the former director of Transportation who retired on December 31. The search for a new principal at E.M. Rollins has already started. Thomas will remain at E.M. Rollins until a new leader is selected.

Many North Carolina Students Go Hungry During Summer Break; Summer Nutrition Programs Help Bridge Hunger Gap
Last year, more than 850,000 North Carolina students were eligible to receive free or reduced-priced meals at school through the National School Lunch Program. Of that number, a mere 82,830 received meals during the summer months through summer nutrition programs.
