The Land Planning and Development Committee met on June 30 at City Hall to discuss a recommendation for a realtor to the Henderson City Council.
Attending the meeting were council members Mary Emma Evans and Land Planning Committee member Lonnie Davis, along with committee chair Bobby Gupton. City Engineer Frank Frazier was present, and City Manager Jerry Moss joined the meeting near its conclusion.
Committee member Garry Daeke did not attend the meeting.
Gupton began the meeting by reviewing presentations that had been made by various realtors regarding the sale of city properties. He told assembled member that there were four proposals to choose from. Proposals had been received from Brassfield Real Estate, Frazco Inc., Century 21, and realtor Jackie Wilson.
Gupton stated that he would like someone from Henderson to represent the city in the sale of the properties.
The Land Planning Committee chair went on to say that Faye Guin with Century 21 was the only realtor with the only agency that had submitted a proposal and was located in Henderson. He stated that it did not make it a hard choice for him.
Committee member Lonnie Davis reaffirmed the choice, stating that he likes Century 21 as well.
Gupton recommended the realtor be given a year’s contract. He also said that the city had indicated that it would most likely go with the same realtor for other properties that the city might put up for sale in the future.
Davis asked if there were any lots owned by the city that could be used for housing.
City Engineer Frank Frazier responded that there were “little packets” throughout the city on Breckenridge and Water Streets, but not a lot.
The members agreed to recommend that Faye Guin of Century 21 Realty be given a contract to sell city property.
Later in the meeting, Frazier told members that there was a need to decide a price range for the properties to be sold. He said that he gets a lot of questions regarding prices.
Gupton responded that perhaps Century 21 could assist the city once they become the city’s agent.

Gupton said that to his knowledge, no complaint has been made.
