At 4:49 p.m. Monday afternoon, Henderson police officers responded to a report of an armed robbery that had just occurred at the Frazco, Inc. offices located at 315 S. Garnett Street.
Officers arrived to learn that an unknown white male suspect had robbed the business of an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing on foot prior to police arrival. The suspect was allegedly armed with a handgun when he demanded money from an employee at the business. No injuries were reported.
911 telecommunicators had alerted officers responding in the area to be on the lookout for the suspect, who reportedly was in his twenties and was last seen wearing a white shirt and dark shorts. Officers quickly surrounded the downtown area in search of the suspect. Officer T. W. Long soon spotted and apprehended a man fitting the suspect’s description in the 100 block of Spring Street headed towards Burwell Avenue.
The case was turned over to the Criminal Investigation Division. Detective A. D. Simmons has identified the suspect as Michael Douglas Sloan, age 20, of Kittrell. Simmons charged Sloan with robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Simmons took Sloan before a local magistrate, who ordered that he be confined to the local jail. As a condition of pre-trial release, he will remain jailed unless a secured bond of $70,000 is posted.
