The City of Henderson will repair a water line on Spring Valley Road based on a citizen complaint received during the public comments portion of the Henderson City Council meeting on August 28.

Jim Fletcher of Spring Valley Road spoke to the Henderson City Council holding a Ball jar of brown water he said came from his tap. He told the council on August 28 that the colored water is a “daily occurance”.

He told members that he calls the Water Department every time and they come and flush the line.

“We want clean water, that’s all.”

Acting City Manager Mark Warren told the council at that time that the complaint was the first he had heard of the issue. He told the council that there was an engineering solution to the problem, as water that leaves the plant does not look like the water that Fletcher showed the council.

At Monday’s council meeting, Warren told the council that the water line that serves Spring Valley Road had been found to be in “a deteriorating state”. He informed members that the line would be replaced at a cost of $2,300, not including the price of an excavator for the project.

He estimated a completion time of two weeks for the project.
