Council will discuss Cert. of Occupancy meetings


Some of the items on the agenda for discussion at tonight’s Henderson City Council meeting include the following:

* The Council will vote on three budget amendments. The first is a grant from the Governor’s Crime Commission for the purpose of gang intervention, one is a close-out of a HUD grand of $1,000,000 used in the construction of the library, and the third is a HUD grant of $72,168 for downtown revitalization.

* Requests for public hearings will be presented for zoning changes. One is a proposed amendment that would allow dwellings on the first floor of a residence in the B1 Zoning District. The other is to allow a homeless shelter in the OIA Zoning District.

* During the guest presentation period, Donald Matthews will present regarding property adjoining Rowland’s Pond. Holland Consulting, Inc. will present resolutions approving administrative guidelines for the FY 2005 CDBG Concentrated Needs Program.

* The FAIR Committee will sponsor a presentation by Rick Seekins of the Kerr-Tar Council of Governments regarding a Council priorities survey. The Committee will also discuss a resolution on a fund balance policy.

* The Community Development Committee will update the Council on Certificate of Occupancy meetings.

* The Public Safety Committee will update members on the setting of public hearings regarding a proposed curfew, proposed changes to the graffiti ordinance, and a fact sheet to the public on animal contol.

* Public Works under the auspices of Committee Chair Ranger Wilkerson will report on city work done on private property.

* The Public Utilities Committee will discuss an Oxford request for water.

* The Human Resources Committee will report on a proposed per diem travel policy.
