The Henderson-Vance Fire Department Fire Prevention Week Open House will be held today starting at 5:00 p.m. at Henderson Fire Station #1 on 211 Dabney Drive.
The open house will last until 9:00 p.m.
The event will feature visits from Sparky the Fire Dog, McGruff the Crime Dog, and Smokey the Bear.
Ladder truck rides will be given from 5:00 to 6:15 p.m. and 8:00 to 9:00 p.m. Safety smoke house tours will be held at the same times.
There will be a live fire demonstration from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m. This demonstation is an excellent illustration to children and adult residents of how quickly a room can become engulfed in flames.
A puppet show will also be held from 7:30 to 8:00 p.m.
In addition to fire trucks from local fire departments on display, a “moon walk” will be made available courtesy of Character Antics.
Free hot dogs, chips, and drinks will be served.
Also present at the event will be guests from the Local Safe Kids NC/Henderson-Vance Chapter, the Safe Kids Van, Henderson Police Department, Vance County Sheriff’s Office, Vance County 911, Maria Parham Medical Center, Vance County Red Cross, NC Forestry Service, Vance County Rescue Squad, and WIZS Radio.
