The Boys and Girls Clubs of North Central North Carolina, Vance County Unit is pleased to announce that it will be opening its doors to enrolled children for the first time on Monday, January 8, 2007 at 3:00 p.m.
The Vance County Unit of the Club will be offering services to children at both E.M. Rollins and L.B. Yancey Elementary School. Both sites will operate from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday of each week under the guidance of Ron Williams who was hired recently as Vance County’s Unit Director.
The programs offered by the Boys and Girls Clubs of America are proven deterrents against gangs, drugs, teen pregnancy, and delinquency. The Club will offer services especially tailored to suit the needs of Vance County’s young people in the areas of career and education, the arts, recreation, fitness, and sports, character and leadership, and health and life skills.
The Club also provides space, time, and assistance with homework and academic skills.
The Family Resource Center on the campus of the L.B. Yancey Elementary School will also host programs for the Clubs.
The local Club is expected to announce an open house for media and the general public in the near future. An orientation meeting is also planned for parents to attend.
