Council members, Henderson police, city staff, and other stakeholders gather for the beginning of house demolitions on David Street.
House demolitions began yesterday at 10:00 a.m. as part of the David Street CDBG Project.
Although there was some discussion at the April 16 Henderson City Council meeting that a Henderson contractor had not been sufficiently notified of the job, the Council chose to award the job during that meeting to an out-of-town firm.
The Council had the option to reject all bids and re-bid the work, but Henderson Mayor Clem Seifert informed members that the contractor who had complained did not want to stop the project.
The David Street CDBG Project is being managed by Holland Consulting Planners, Inc.
Chip Bartlett, who manages the project through Holland, told the Council that demolition would take about four days per house and would continue through May.
