We’d like to move a specific discussion that’s been taking place to a more general one. Pretending that I’m not already a teacher and therefore already held to a higher standard of behavior, am I, as the spouse of a law enforcement officer, held to a higher standard than that of an average citizen by virtue of my spouse’s profession? And if I do not adhere to that standard, is she liable for my behavior? Feel free to discuss this …

We’d be lying if we didn’t say that we weren’t looking forward to spring break with anything short of eagerness. At least we have something to look forward to, even if we’re going to spend the week working on our taxes. Many here in our hometown have nothing at all to anticipate, especially our elementary school students who get report cards today. Consider that on today’s open line.

Editor’s Note: Home in Henderson recently received a query as to why we were not running stories on Congressman G.K. Butterfield’s long-standing issue with the Navy over the air strip. Frankly, we did not realize that it was of interest to local readers. I find the metaphor of HiH as a Petri dish somewhat engaging. Alexander Fleming discovered penicillin when he accidently left a dish uncovered for a few days, and the benefits of that piece of serendipity to humanity are without measure. Who knows what felicity will sprout out of the muck today? Add your spores on today’s open line.
