HPD announces three promotions


The Henderson Police Department is pleased to announce three promotions, effective June 8, 2007.

HPD Promotions
Newly promoted HPD Lt. M.W. Barrow

Sergeant M.W. Barrow was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. Lt. Barrow started his career with the Henderson Police Department August 17, 1998. Lt. Barrow has worked as an officer in the uniform patrol division, as a detective in the Criminal Investigations Division, Problem Oriented Response Team, and the Selective Enforcement Unit. Prior to his promotion, Lt. Barrow served as a sergeant in the Uniform Patrol Division. Lt. Barrow will be assigned as a section commander in the Uniform Patrol Division.

HPD Promotions
Newly promoted HPD Sgt. Gregory Williams

Senior Police Officer Gregory Williams was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. Sgt. Williams joined the Henderson Police Department January 7, 1997 after retiring from the United States Army. Sgt. Williams has extensive leadership experience in the armed forces. He has served in the capacity of uniform patrol officer, as a member of the SWAT team, and has been with the K9 program since its inception. Sgt. Williams will be assigned to the Uniform Patrol Division.

HPD Promotions
Newly promoted HPD Detective Sgt. James S. Darnell

Police Officer, Third Class James S. Darnell was promoted to the rank of Detective Sergeant. Sgt. Darnell joined the Henderson Police Department on June 12, 2003. Sgt. Darnell was previously employed as a deputy with the Warren County Sheriff’s Office. Sgt. Darnell has performed as a patrol officer in the uniform patrol division, as well as the Interagency Drug Enforcement Unit. Sgt. Darnell will be assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division.

Several candidates throughout the department from various specialized units and uniform patrol competed in the process.

“This was a very difficult choice, due to the extensive pool of qualified applicants,” said Henderson Police Department Chief Keith Sidwell.

According to Sidwell, the three officers promoted yesterday exemplify the overall commitment to the department’s philosophies of community policing and service to the citizens of Henderson.
