One critical after I-85 collision


On June 18, 2007, at 3:07 p.m., officers of the Henderson Police Department responded to Interstate 85 in reference to a motor vehicle collision.

The collision occurred just south of NC 39 in the southbound lanes.

Devonjee Owens of Henderson operated the first vehicle, a 1989 Buick Park Avenue. Traveling with Mr. Owens were 26 year old Ladora Epps and her two small infants Aaliyah Epps-Owens and Jada Epps-Owens, all from Henderson.

Alana Elizabeth Miller of Charlotte, North Carolina operated the second vehicle, a 2007 Ford Mustang. She was traveling alone.

The collision occurred as Mr. Owens was attempting to leave the roadway to the left and Ms. Miller was traveling in the left lane.

All parties in the first vehicle were transported to the hospital.

Ladora Epps is the only one that remains in the hospital. Her condition is critical. This incident is still under investigation by the Henderson Police Department.
