A special meeting of the Henderson City Council was held yesterday at 4:00 p.m. in City Hall.
Members Elissa Yount, Garry Daeke, and Bernard Alston were absent from the special session.
At the onset of the meeting, Henderson Mayor Clem Seifert announced that the Council would meet in closed session regarding a personnel matter.
The closed session lasted 25 minutes.
After going back into open session, Council member Lonnie Davis moved that a committee composed of Council members Bernard Alston, Garry Daeke, Lonnie Davis, Mary Emma Evans, and Seifert be formed for the purpose of bringing a recommendation to the Council regarding an interim city manager.
The motion passed without opposition.
Seifert asked for and received the consent of Council members to include Hartwell Wright, Human Resources and Employee Relations Consulting Manager of the North Carolina League of Municipalities, in the process of finding an interim manager.
A meeting of the special committee has been scheduled for Tuesday, October 17, 2007 at 5:00 p.m. in the conference room of City Hall.
Seifert commented that he assumed that the majority of the committee’s discussions would be open [to the public].
