Former Henderson police officer Anthony Dale Finch was arrested today for threatening an officer of the court.

The court officer who was allegedly threatened by Finch is none other than District Attorney Sam Currin.

Finch gained notoriety in the summer of 2007 when he was charged with ethnic intimidation, going armed to the terror of the public, and carrying a concealed weapon after an altercation that took place on June 8, 2007. He ended up pleading to a lesser charge of communicating threats in March of this year and was given a 45 day suspended sentence as well as two years of supervised probation.

The former police officer is alleged to have made the threat against Currin on Monday of this week by stating that he was going to kill the district attorney [Sam Currin] and cut his head off.

An unconfirmed report states that the warrant for Finch’s arrest was sworn out on the morning of April 17.

While at the magistrate’s office, Al Wheless, a reporter for the Daily Dispatch stated that Finch had contacted him the same morning. Wheless was later at the Probation/Parole Office at the same time that Finch was subsequently arrested this afternoon.

Finch is being held in the Vance County Jail on $10,000 secured bond.
