Relay for Life labyrinth walk

AN INVITATION TO THE HENDERSON COMMUNITY TO A LABYRINTH WALK IN SUPPORT OF RELAY FOR LIFE

Sunday, June 15,2008- 3:00-6:00
First Baptist Church (look for directional signs in front of church)
205 W. Winder St.

Ten minute introductions to the Labyrinth and suggestions for walking will be given on the hour (3:00, 4:00, and 5:00)

Our Labyrinth is a replica of that in Charles Cathedral, an eleven circuit ancient design, probably used in place of making pilgrimage to Jerusalem and for meditative prayer.

The labyrinth represents our passage through time and experience. Its many turns reflect the journey of life, which involves changes of directions, transition, some uncertainty, but also discovery and achievement.

It is not a maze – there is only one path leading to the center and the same path out.

Many churches have labyrinths, but some large hospitals have labyrinths available to patients and families. The turns of the labyrinth are thought to balance the two hemispheres of the brain, resulting in physical and emotional healing. In any event, the walk invites us to drop our burdens and listen for God’s loving desire in our lives.
