After veterans and their student relatives were individually recognized, students ceremonially raised the flags of the United States of America, the State of North Carolina, and the County of Vance.
All present then participated in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Veterans were then treated to presentations from the different grade levels at the school. These ranged from the recitation of songs and poems to the giving of thank you cards in recognition of the service of community veterans.
Afterwards, students in the intermediate grades (3-5) were treated to a slide show by Linwood Martin that outlined his career in the U.S. Navy as a Master Chief.
