On January 6, 2009, the Henderson Police Department welcomed two new officers, J.R. Freeman and J.M. Gwinn.
The oath of office was administered by North Carolina Notary and Executive Administrative Assistant Diana Pendergrass.
Both have been employed with the City of Henderson since entering Basic Law Enforcement Training at Vance Granville Community College. Prior to their new careers as city police officers, Freeman served our country in the US military. Gwinn brings his experience as a sergeant with the North Carolina Department of Corrections to Henderson.
Both officers will assume their respective duties in the Uniform Patrol Division immediately. Both north central North Carolina natives say that they are looking forward to continuing their careers in law enforcement in their home town.
