The Vance County Board of Education will hold an emergency meeting today, Monday, January 26, 2009 at 5:15 p.m. at the Administrative Services Center’s main conference room at 1724 Graham Avenue in Henderson. The purpose of the meeting is approve an ADM application. “ADM” refers to state funds that are derived through a formula that considers average daily membership of students.

House Ways & Means approves econ. stim. package
Washington, D.C. — U.S. Rep. Bob Etheridge (D-Lillington) and the House Committee on Ways and Means voted today to approve The American Economic Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The bill includes Etheridge’s legislation to provide tax credits to help fund local school construction projects.

Peanut butter scare now at home
WRAL is reporting additional North Carolina cases of peanut butter contaminated with salmonella: one in Onslow County and one right here in Vance County. Here is a link to an FDA Web site with details on products in which contaminated peanut butter is suspected to have been used.
Sanitation schedule revision
Sanitation and Recycle Trucks will be picking up Monday and Tuesday’s routes today, Wednesday, January 21, 2009. Wednesday and Thursday’s routes will be picked up Thursday, January 22.
