Raleigh — Rep. Michael H .Wray has been appointed chair of the Insurance committee, vice chair of the Appropriations/Subcommittee on Natural and Economic Resources and vice chair of the Wildlife Resources committee.
He was also assigned to serve as a member of the Agriculture; Commerce, Small Business and Entrepreneurship; and Transportation committees that will have important roles in the House of Representatives this session.
The appointments were announced today by House Speaker Joe Hackney.
“I am pleased to have this opportunity to serve in such key positions,” Rep. Wray said. “These appointments will allow me to serve both the House of Representatives and the people of my district who have a strong interest in insurance issues. My committee schedule will keep me busy this session, but I am ready to get to work. We have a lot of challenges this session as we look at ways to trim our budget and still keep the state and my district moving ahead.”
During the 2007-08 session of the General Assembly, Rep. Wray served on the following committees: Education/Subcommittee on Community Colleges-Chair, Wildlife Resources-vice chair, Agriculture,
Appropriations/Subcommittee on Natural and Economic Resources and Transportation.
A businessman and developer, Rep. Wray lives in Gaston with his wife, Kay. They are the parents of twin sons, Matthew and Phillip. He is serving his third term in the Legislature.
