After receiving a letter expressing doubt about even getting a response, Congressman G. K. Butterfield will surprise the Pinkston Street School fifth grader who wrote to him with a visit to the school.
The student wrote to Butterfield seeking help in securing tickets to tour the White House, promising that he and fellow students “won’t bother the President or touch any of his things” and that “if they could just stand on the porch that would be fine too.”
Butterfield will talk with students about his role as a legislator and the importance of education. He will also answer the students’ questions and present the school with a flag that was flown over the U.S. Capitol in the school’s name.
