The Henderson City Council voted during its regular short session meeting last night to lower the annual license fee for adult businesses from $1,500 to $800.
According to City Attorney John Zollicoffer, the reduced fee is “in line” with cities comparable to Henderson in size.
The initial inspection and licensing fee will remain at $2,000. Council member Garry Daeke asked Zollicoffer is that fee was also in line.
“In line with some,” Zollicoffer responded. He opined that the fee is not unreasonable for initial inspection.
During the January 12, 2009 meeting of the Henderson City Council when an ordinance creating an adult business zone was passed, prospective Henderson adult business owner Chris Peacock called the initial $2,000 fee “absurd” and told members that there was an issue of constitutionality of high fees.
