Man robbed, shot at Merita warehouse


On March 30, 2009, at approximately 10:40 p.m., officers of the Henderson Police Department responded to the Merita Bread warehouse located at 1030 Old Norlina Road in Henderson in reference to a report of someone shot.

Upon arrival, officers found Richard Pilgreen suffering from a gunshot wound to his left arm.

Pilgreen stated that he and another employee were working at the warehouse unloading a truck when he was approached outside of the business by a black male. The suspect displayed a handgun and robbed Pilgeeen of his wallet and then shot Pilgreen. The suspect fled on foot from the area. Pilgreen described the suspect as a black male wearing all black clothing and a toboggan.

The investigation of this incident is continuing by the Criminal Investigations Division.
