Northern Vance High School Principal Brian Creasman was named the Vance County Schools Principal of the Year at the meeting of the Vance County Board of Education on Monday evening.
Creasman was appointed to his post at Northern Vance after a short stint as the Principal of Eaton-Johnson Middle School.
The honored educator has been lauded for increasing state test scores at both schools.
Vance County Board of Education Chair Gloria White was effusive in her praise for Creasman, telling the capacity-sized audience that she was trying to think of all of the great things she could say.
White characterized the award-winner as “a go-getter” and “innovative”.
Creasman was presented with a check by Superintendent Norman Shearin as well as a plaque.
Creasman told the audience that he “didn’t want this”, referring to the award, but would take it because he has “the best faculty, staff, students, and parents”. He said he would give the check back to his school to be used for End-of-Course test preparation.
The principal was also presented with a check for $500 from the Vance County Public School Foundation.
