Police make arrest in gunpoint bike robbery


On May 30, 2009 Michael Winston stated that he was in the parking lot of Foxborough Pines Apartments when he was robbed at gunpoint and his bicycle was taken.

After an investigation by members of the Henderson Police Department’s Patrol Division with assistance from the Criminal Investigations Division, Qumay Person, 17, of 204 Zollicoffer Avenue was arrested and charged. Person was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm by a minor, and possession of a stolen firearm.

The firearm used in the robbery was seized and, after further investigation, it was determined that the handgun had been taken from a residence at 128 S. Elizabeth Street during a breaking and entering which occurred on May 29, 2009.

Person was placed in the Vance County Jail under a $61,000 bond pending a June 8, 2009 court appearance.
