The Henderson Police Department has received reports of citizens receiving letters from groups claiming to be national companies.
These letters indicate that the recipient is “a winner of a cash prize” of a large amount of money.
Subjects were sent a form to be filled out with sensitive personal or financial information, or they were asked to forward a processing fee to the company to receive their prize.
These letters are fraudulent. The company does not exist.
The Henderson Police Department is reminding everyone that they should never give out any information such as Social Security numbers, bank account numbers, date of birth, or any identifying information to anyone over the telephone or through letters or email without being sure of the person’s or company’s identity. Companies offering unsolicited “prizes”, especially cash, should never ask for any type of payment, processing fee, or shipment from the “winner”.
The Henderson Police Department is asking that you call and report any such mailings or solicitations.
