Yesterday the Henderson Police Department’s bicycle patrol and Safe Kids Henderson-Vance sponsored a bike rodeo at the Boys & Girls Club currently located at L.B. Yancey Elementary School in Vance County.
A bike rodeo is an event where children learn bicycle safety through instruction and practice under the supervision of qualified and practically experienced instructors.

After a discussion of helmet safety, each child was fitted with their own new bicycle helmet. Students then rotated through six learning stations on the subjects of maneuvering, emergency stops, mounting and dismounting, bike safety, brain injury, and the viewing of a safety video.
