Etheridge reaction to Obama health care address

Washington, D.C. —- U.S. Rep. Bob Etheridge (D-Lillington) issued the following statement in response to President Obama’s address on health care reform to Congress yesterday evening:

“I think the President did an effective job of communicating that health care reform will bring security and stability to Americans by reducing costs and preserving choice.

“He made the case that health care reform will bring added security to those who already have insurance by making certain they can keep what they have even if they change jobs and that insurance actually pays for care when they get sick. Reform will make sure working families can afford quality insurance, even if they have pre-existing conditions. This bill will also enable Americans to get preventative care without copayments, so that they can prevent small illnesses from developing into big, expensive medical problems.

“I look forward to the work ahead with the President and my colleagues on reform that preserves and expands health care options, reduces costs, and increases access to high quality care for all North Carolinians.”
