Here is a generic copy of a letter sent to Henderson City Council candidates on Tuesday regarding the upcoming Candidates’ Forum on September 20, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at the County Administration Building (old courthouse) at 122 Young Street in Henderson, North Carolina:
Dear Candidate:
The Henderson-Vance Chamber of Commerce, Home in Henderson, The Daily Dispatch and WIZS are jointly hosting a Candidates’ Forum on Sunday, September 20, 2009, in Vance County Commissioners’ Meeting Room on Young Street (in the former courthouse) from 3 to 5:15 p.m.
All candidates who have opposition in the October 6, 2009, Municipal Election are invited to participate in the forum. Candidates with no opposition are invited to make opening and closing statements.
The format for the forum will give each candidate an opportunity to make an opening statement of 60 seconds in length followed by questions from a panel represented by the media. The public will be given the opportunity to submit questions in advance of the forum through the media. Each candidate will be given the opportunity to respond to each question within 60 seconds. You will also have an opportunity to make a closing statement of 60 seconds.
The public will be invited to attend the forum. It will also be broadcast on WIZS, webcast on Home in Henderson and reported in The Daily Dispatch.
