The city of Henderson will hold a groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. at 129 S. Garnett Street in Henderson, North Carolina for the HOPE VI Main Street Revitalization Project, Phase I.
The city of Henderson was awarded $1 million in grant funds for the HOPE VI Main Street Revitalization Project which will provide for twelve apartment units along Garnett Street, predominantly above existing retail spaces. The total estimated cost for construction is slightly less than $1.5 million.
The city of Henderson has partnered with four property owners who will provide the additional funding necessary to complete this project. The private investors are as follows: Cornerstone Development, LLC; CPNONE, LLC, Mostly Handcrafted; and Inscoe Properties, LLC.
The city is excited about arriving to this point of the project, simply because it is one of the first cities in the nation to be awarded this type of grant and to have reached the point of construction. It also is a major stop forward in helping the city achieve its goals of downtown redevelopment and expanding the housing stock.
